The Kyocera partnered Volkswagen Motorsport driver is trailing his teammate Brad Liebenberg by 22 points heading into the August 30-31 race weekend and would like to start closing the gap.
As reported previously, the team will be facing a further challenge for the remainder of the season with the Balance of Performance strategy, however Wood is seeing the possible opportunity in this as well.
“We’ve seen last time round that things will not be all that simple for us at the front of the field as we’ve experienced in the first half of the season. This means we’ll have to work hard to regain our advantage. This will also spice things up in the battle between myself and Brad as well, especially come the reverse-grid race. With only six chances left to score points for 2019, this could see us having a very close contest as the season winds down. The pressure will be on us and I intend to counter this by pushing even harder.”
The race weekend will see three practice sessions on Friday ahead of Qualifying and the two championship races on Saturday. The circuit with its oceanic backdrop always draws a large number of fans and Wood would like to invite his supporters in the region to attend the weekend’s action. Fans are also welcomed to follow the official Adrian Wood Racing Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/AdrianWoodRacing for updates throughout the weekend.
Adrian Wood would like to thank his partners Kyocera Document Solutions and Volkswagen Motorsport South Africa, ZiU Trading, NRG Office Solutions and Omni Technologies for the continued support.
