The third round of the 2019 will see the team returning to the coast at the on May 10-11.

Round 2 at saw the team losing ground in the championship but showcasing a competitive yet level-headed attitude through difficult situations. Heading into Round 3, Chris Shorter is occupying third place on the points table with 46 points; trailing the leader by 27 points. ’s efforts paid off with him now in fifth place on 39 points. completes the top-ten with 16 points while is in 13th position on 9 points.

Chris Shorter (#33 Engine Expertise Polo) will be eager to get back to the winning form he showed in Round 1: “We will be aiming for improved results in Cape Town as we know we have the pace to compete at the front. With Push-to-Pass, this circuit will require a very strategic approach as their will be plenty of opportunities to capitalise on slipstreams. Of course, this one will work both ways so it will require us to be very calculated. I think the racing at the front will be close. This time we want to be battling in the top-six, the amount of track-time that we spent in the midfield at Zwartkops really hurt our chances. Qualifying will again be crucial and this is an aspect that we’ve actively addressed during testing as well. Now it’s time to apply this on the track in competitive conditions.”

Clinton Bezuidenhout (#38 Engine Expertise Volkswagen Polo) rates the Cape Town circuit as one of his favourites and after a strong weekend at Zwartkops Raceway is looking forward to another battle at the front of the field: “I love competing at Killarney and will aim for another strong result. From third to fifth, we are very evenly matched on the points table as has been the case on the track as well. Strategy will play a big part as every Push-to-Pass will be crucial at Killarney. We know we’ll have to remain level-headed and stay alert, that is the key to coming home with a strong result.”

Matt Shorter (#22 Volkswagen Polo) will aim to bounce back from a difficult Round 2 at the Killarney International Raceway: “I’m confidently looking forward to the weekend as I love the circuit. In the past I’ve also shown good pace there and I’m aiming to convert this into good points-paying finishes. I’ve worked quite a bit on my Push-to-Pass implementation as that will be a key factor in Cape Town. We’re expecting close racing, however you do have the opportunity to just slightly break away from the rest of the field at the circuit. Ideally this is a position that we’re hoping to find ourselves in.”

Altan Bouw (#11 Champion / Ferodo Volkswagen Polo) is feeling confident following the pre-event test session: “Testing went very well and we posted very competitive times. Our goal now will be to repeat these results during Qualifying as that was really our downfall at Zwartkops. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not really where I want to be in the championship at present. I do however love competing at Killarney; particularly as the circuit features two long straights and a host of fast corners. I’ll be aiming to end Round 3 by breaking into the top-ten on the points table.”

The weekend will see the team participating in three practice sessions on Friday ahead of Saturday morning’s qualifying session and two races. More information regarding the timetable and opportunities for fan engagement will be announced when it becomes available.
