As Port Elizabeth prepares for an exciting weekend of motorsport action at the Aldo Scribante Racetrack on Saturday, July 14, motorsport fans will also be provided an opportunity to get even closer to the action, as the Sasol GTC Championship launches a money-can’t-buy competition to kart with the categories stars.
Six lucky winners will get an opportunity of a lifetime to team up with some of the category’s leading drivers around the Celso Scribante Karting Circuit on Thursday, July 12, with defending Sasol GTC champion Michael Stephen leading the charge with his MSR4 Karting operation which is hosting the day.
Eligible entrants must nominate a current GTC or GTC2 driver that they would like to team up with and why. Entries can be submitted by commenting on the Facebook post which can be found on http://www.facebook.com/GlobalTouringCars. The closing date for entries is on Monday, July 9 at 17:00 South African time. The #RaceWithGTC Fan Karting competition is open to South African citizens over the age of 18 years with a valid ID and driver’s licence who will be available at the venue on Thursday, July 12. Sasol GTC Television and Communicaitons Director Filippa Guarna is one of the key organisers of this completion and says it will be a great chance for fans to up and close with the country’s best drivers .
“This will truly provide South African motorsport fans with a money-can’t-buy experience to race with our drivers,” said Guarna. “No doubt we’re expecting serious competition on the track considering how great the actual championship has developed this season, but we’re anticipating lots of fun. This also forms part of our strategy to not just bring the fans to the racing, but to actually take the racing to the fans. We’re certainly looking forward to reading some of the motivations being provided as we know how passionate South African motorsport fans are.”
