Monitor Net’s Deon Holliday Jnr is eager to continue his good form in the penultimate round of the 2019 MotorMart VW Challenge Championship at Zwartkops Raceway to regain second place on the Class B points table come October 18-19.
With 72 points behind his name he holds a comfortable margin over fourth-placed Stuart Mack and will be aiming to close in on Jacques Smith who is 13 points ahead.
“With two rounds remaining a lot can still happen so our aim is to make the most of every chance we get” says Holliday Jnr. “There’s obviously still a drop-round to consider as well and we’ll have to push for every point on offer at present; especially after our mid-year mechanical misfortunes.”
The defending Class B Champion ended a miserable mid-season campaign by taking two podium finishes in the previous round behind the wheel of his Centworx prepared Volkswagen Polo. Both the remaining rounds will be held at the Pretoria circuit where Holliday Jnr’s 2018 title aspirations turned into reality.
“Although we’re not in the title fight itself, there’s quite a bit that’s like what we had at the end of last year. Heading into the final two rounds we knew we would have our work cut out to take the title. This year, we’re again up against Jacques to reach our season-goal. It will be a tough battle, but with a superbly prepared car we are as motivated as can be. Having the technical expertise of Stiaan Kriel Racing on board will also help us a great deal”
Round 8 of the championship will form part of the All Zwartkops Race Day with a host of car and motorcycle classes on offer. Friday will see four practice sessions ahead of Saturday morning’s qualifying session. Both races will be contested over 10 laps and will start at 12:35 and 15:35.
